A series of rapid, 30 second sketches of people I drew as the train whizzed past their stations (I was on the train). The speech bubbles are courtesy of Weezer, which I was listening to on the iPod. I still think their first album is the best.
Due the abnormally large size of my forehead, I am inclined to lean forward and furrow my brow. Humph
This was a warm-up study for a painting. The underlying sketch was drawn in about a minute or thereabouts from a live model. Worked over it a few weeks later and again, a couple of days after that. Something I recommend trying if you have drawings you’re not that happy with. If you don’t really like them in the first place, you’ve got nothing to loose by adding to them, overlaying or just scribbling to see what happens.
I didn’t realise at the time that the lady with the massive sunglasses was reading the newspaper over the shoulder of the man in front. Most of this drawing is one continual line. The hatching on the left is the main exception.
Saw this guy in Branxton, just before Christmas. Hairiest man ever. In the sketch, he looks older than in real life. It was a hot day and I wondered what it must feel like to stroll around with all that beard and hair.
