This old crane is bashed up, covered in graffiti (didn’t have the bottle to include it), rusted to bits and slowly disintegrating into the surrounding vegetation. It’s something that’s been on my project list for a long time, so finally got around to sketching it. Time permitting, it’s got the makings of a painting study. Before the winter’s out…

Found myself on the train with nothing but a highlighter to draw with. Takes me back to my days of high-top basketball boots, stonewashed denim and too-bright shirts. Might explain the recent purchase of a Human League album. Must be caught in time-slip.

This lady was a very intent reader. Read her newspaper from cover to cover and barely looked up to see where she was – unlike most people who take the train. Didn’t spot the crucifix until the drawing was almost finished.

This is somewhat exaggerated. Big hair, many frills, much jewelry but (most important) – highly content.

It’s surprisingly difficult to draw people while they’re eating (without them knowing). Firstly, it felt like an invasion of privacy, although I’m not sure why that should be. Also, they move around a lot. There’s much furitive glancing about. I can’t comment on the reason but it could be either guilt (I know I shouldn’t eat fatty-bad-for-you food but I am…) or primeval fear (a roaming predator/competitor might snatch this meal away if I drop my guard).
